It's always nice

It's always nice to see your hand knit items actually being worn. It looks much better than I remember it too and what a pleasure that it.

Maryland Sheep and Wool

Here are my Maryland Sheep and Wool ClassesRuffles, Ripples, and Ribs

and

Plying with Multicolored Roving

I'm bringing my wheel and I'm hoping I can carry it on the plane. I just bought a bag from the Bag Lady so I think I'm as prepared I can be.

The Pomatomus socks are great. I want to knit these too. I haven't been that attracted by the Jaywalker but maybe that will change when I see you socks. I've just knitted one pair of lace pattern socks but I'm up for another pair. I used the "scroll" pattern from Charlene Schurch’s books. I can bring the books to Maryland if you'd like to look them over.

I'm so jealous of your weekend at John C Campbell. While you were spinning away I was searching the internet on all the info I could find on the school and actually found a documentary to watch. I was living vicariously through you for the weekend. I can't wait for MS&W.

Adventures in Spinning

The neapolitan socks are complete! Ends woven in... socks on feet! I've decided to start the famous Jaywalker pattern for my next pair of socks, and then ease my way into a simple lace pattern. I was thinking of knitting Pomatomus by Cookie A. If you get a chance, please look at the lace chart and tell me if you think it is a relatively straightforward choice.

In other knitting news.... this came in the mail today....

I'm wait-listed for the Playing With Multicolored Roving class at MS&W. I don't have a clue what the likelihood of getting into this class would be. Fingers crossed, however. My beginning spinning class at John C. Campbell Folk School has really energized my spinning. I brought three grocery store bags full (haha... three bags full... no pun intended) of Romney fleece to pick and hand-card before spinning. I want to knit a raglan cardigan similar to the Pinecone Cardigan knitted by SpiderWoman Knits (check it out on Ravelry.) I've had a pair of Ashford handcards since I was given my Suffolk sheep and have never known how to properly use them until now. I had so many bits of green wool stuck in the teeth from a previous attempt to card!

I have two skeins of handspun from my adventures in spinning at the folk school. One plied from gray/brown and white Romney (washed and hand-carded in the class) and the other is a prepared Fleece Artist roving in a purple colorway. I had to have some color! Our class unanimously voted to take a "field trip" to a local yarn store, owned by the course instructor's sister-in-law. I bought the Fleece Artist roving and a brilliant skein of Hand Maiden Casbah sock yarn. This sock yarn is a blend of merino, cashmere, and nylon and it's orange!... you can imagine how smitten I am. Enjoy some pics of my weekend at the folk school:

Warning: More 4x4 Ribbed Sock Content

Finished the Lorna's Laces socks in the Black Purl colorway that I purchased at Loop in Philadelphia, PA.

I have knitted one entire sock and am beginning the heel flap of the second sock in the Trekking XXL #126 bought off eBay last month. I just decided to work them up in the 64 stitch 4x4 ribbed sock pattern that is my old standby... Do I even knit anything else? I can't find the pic of the finished sock (check it out on Ravelry) but here's one of my kitty loving on the yarn.

Next up, Jaywalkers! Do you have any recommendations for a simple lace sock for a gal like me to branch-out with?
I'm off to the folk school in the morning for my Beginning Spinning workshop! Have a great weekend...
By the way, heard anything about MS&W classes?
